YouTube is gradually releasing the new ‘Explore’ tab to the beta users where it will replace the Trending tab. Well, almost!
YouTube community help center mentions that “Trending [tab] isn’t going away and will have its own section in Explore [feed]”. On the Home tab, the earlier UI had Trending option which could let users see what videos are trending in their country. But the Explore tab won’t replace the trending option completely. In fact, it will become a sub-section of the Explore tab. Moreover, users can see diverse sorts of videos based on their interests.
The new Explore tab will have a colorful layout in the form of tiles rather than the old monochrome icons for topics. Google says that the new layout will pave the way for “Creator & Artist on the Rise.” Google had announced this experiment last year but the feature is still being extensively tested before the final release.
