WP Super Cache Easy Settings

On the easy tab under settings page of WP Super Cache, you will come to see the caching ON, OFF option. Of Course, you have to turn ON Caching which is recommended. After that, Click on “Update Status” button which will Turn ON caching for your WordPress site.

When the cache becomes old and you want a fresher version of it, click “Delete Cache” button merely present below the “Update Status button”. There are also some recommended links and plugins on that page, you may wish to install.

After Turing ON caching you have to click on the Advanced tab to make it more effective. On Advanced tab, you will see a large amount of check boxes, from which you have to check some of them. See the screenshot given below and check the similar boxes on your WP Super Cache’s Advanced tab (They are marked with the red boxes). In simple words, Copy Me.

Let me explain to you what you’ve just done 🙂

Cache hits to this website for quick access option does the same thing as the “ON” option on the easy tab. Just make sure that it is checked if you have made any changes in the advanced tab.

Use mod_rewrite to serve cache files option will enable the fastest method to serve cache to your visitors. But the developer has recommended PHP method for advanced users as well as newbies. By the way, Mod_rewrite is fastest. PHP is  fast and easy. While legacy caching is slower.

Compress Pages option will decrease your page size by compressing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. This will serve the cached files more quickly to your visitors.

Cache Rebuild will serve static HTML files to anonymous users while a new file is being generated. Those files can also be called as super cache files.

Mobile device Support will generate cached files for mobile users and enable caching for mobile devices as well.

If you have selected all of these options, Go to the bottom of the page and hit “Update Status” button to save all the settings. If you will face any issues like the difference in mod_rewrite or .htaccess rule don’t panic. Just click on Update mod_Rewrite rules under the Advanced tab.

Done ? Now let’s check whether this plugin is working or not. Move on to the Easy tab. Click on the “test cache” button under cache tester. If everything is  okay, you’ve successfully installed and setup WP Super Cache plugin.

WP Super Cache CDN features

This is not for Beginners.

What is CDN ? : A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a globally distributed network of proxy servers deployed in multiple data centers.

Was that weird ? 😉

In simple words, It increases website speed. They create the static (HTML)  version of your most visited page which can be further served to the visitors without retrieving data from your web server or database. Hence, the requests to your server or database gradually decrease. It also prevents website overloading. It also saves your Bandwidth.

Here at 3nions, we are using CloudFlare CDN. As it is free and comes with a free DDoS protection. There are some cache plugins which can support Cloudflare on your WordPress site.

For enabling CDN on WP Super cache plugin, check “enable CDN support” under CDN tab. Enter your Off-site URL. For Example, Make sure that you have selected this option, “Skip https URLs to avoid “mixed content” errors“. You can also add additional CNAMES to improve your site performance on different browsers. Click on save changes.

The other tabs are for advanced users, so I’m not going for that right now. I want this post to be beginner friendly. Going in deep settings may not be grasped by normal users. And the settings I’ve explained above are only recommended and important.
