Broncos, Russell Wilson agree to a $5-year agreement worth $245 million

NEWS, SPORTS

On Thursday, Wilson and the Denver Broncos came to terms on a five-year, $245 million extension. Of that amount, $165 million is guaranteed.

Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback, has two seasons left on his Seattle-signed contract; hence, the extension commits him to Denver for the next seven years.

Starting in 2024, the additional money under the agreement will average up to $49 million annually.

Since Wilson was acquired, expectations of the Denver Broncos have increased significantly.

Wilson contributed 10-plus wins in eight out of his ten seasons in Seattle.

My main focus is on helping the Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl and nothing else, Wilson said on the first day of training camp in late July.

A $65 million signing bonus was part of Wilson's previous contract; however, more than half of it was delayed.
