American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift won big at the MTV Europe Music Awards that took place in the German city of Düsseldorf on Sunday. Her list of awards include Best Artist, Best Video, Best Longform Video and Best pPop.
The ‘Bad Blood’ star made a surprise appearance at the show and personally received the prizes.
“The fans are the only reason any of this happens for me,” said Swift, Accepting her first award.
British star Harry Styles won the prize for the best live act, while Nicki Minaj won Best Song and Best Hip Hop.
‘All too Well,’ which won the award for best longform video, gets inspiration from the 1970s, showing a derelict romantic relationship that only leaves a scarf behind.
Swift said, “I felt like I learned so much about how making film can be a natural extension of my storytelling.”
The 2022 MTV EMA Generation Change award went to Lina Deshvar, Anna Kutova, and Anfisa Yakovina, three Ukrainian women who are activists for the humanitarian crisis.
Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra, who won the Eurovision Song Contest for ‘Stefania’ held a moving performance, with frontman Oleg Psyuk expressing that they were spread awareness about the war in their country with their new-found fame.
“It’s important for us to be a voice of Ukraine, to have the opportunity to be all over the world, to perform and to say about Ukraine, to say about war, to say about our culture, a culture that fights against war,” said the band.
