South Korean giant Samsung has launched a mid-range 5G smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G. The latest addition to the Galaxy A family is the first mid-range phone to equip 5G connectivity. The phone combines power and performance into one, to give its users an ultimate experience.
It is the 3rd Samsung phone to ship with 5G – the other two being Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G. The phone also supports Samsung’s ambitious DEX, which the firm considers to be a PC replacement.
DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics, said, “We’re excited about the success of the Galaxy A Series – a generation of smartphones built for the new Era of Live that focuses on essential features people want the most, including a high-quality camera, long-lasting battery, and immersive display. Samsung has worked tirelessly with our partners in the 5G ecosystem to bring 5G to as many people as possible, and now we are offering 5G connectivity across the entire Galaxy smartphone portfolio, giving more people high-speed access and connected experiences.”
Speaking of the specifications, the A90 5G sports a 6.7 inches full-HD Super AMOLED panel with a small Infinity-U notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with 6GB or 8GB RAM. The phone offers base storage of 128GB. Unfortunately, there’s no microSD card expansion.
On the camera side of things, the phone has a triple camera setup, that includes a primary 48MP sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP sensor depth sensor. The front camera is a 32MP camera. The rear cameras come with features like Super Steady, Scene Optimizer and Flaw Detector. To keep things ticking, the phone has a 4,500mAh battery and supports 25W charging.
“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Samsung to bring the high-powered speed and performance of 5G to as many people as possible through the most advanced platform yet, the flagship Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. Samsung’s innovative line of Galaxy devices paired with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem and Qualcomm® RF-Front-End solutions will support an entirely new 5G experience that enables people to work faster and play harder, no matter where they are,” said Cristiano Amon, President, Qualcomm Incorporated.
The phone comes in Black and White colors. Samsung hasn’t given any details on pricing yet.
