Reliance Jio to launch free Wi-Fi calling feature

The service is said to roll out in India between January 7 and January 16, 2020.

Reliance Jio on Wednesday launched Video and Voice Over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) service across the country that will allow its users to use any WiFi network for Jio WiFi-calling at no additional cost. The service is said to roll out in India between January 7 and January 16, 2020. The company also said that the service will support over 150 handset models. “Jio has been testing this service over the past few months, to provide a robust experience to every customer at launch,” the company said in a statement.

“At this juncture, when an average Jio consumer uses over 900 minutes of voice calls every month, and at a growing base of consumers, the launch of Jio Wi-Fi Calling will further enhance every Jio consumer’s voice-calling experience, which is already a benchmark for the industry with India’s-first all VoLTE network,” said Akash Ambani, Director of Jio.
