The most anticipated flagship-killer of the year has been finally launched in India. The Redmi K20 & K20 Pro have embraced the Indian users with a price tag starting ₹21,999, going all the up to ₹30,999 for the beefed-up version. The phones are the first Xiaomi products to debut with Snapdragon chipsets, AMOLED displays which double as the under-display fingerprint sensor.
Commonality
Like every other manufacturer in 2019, Xiaomi has launched two models that share a few specifications. Both the K20 phones are lit by a 6.3-inches AMOLED display that supports HDR. Both share the same pixel density (403 PPI), the resolution (2340×1080p), and the aspect ratio (19.5:9) Both the phones are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Both the displays have an 86.1% screen-to-body ratio.
As for the cameras, the series boasts of a pop-up based-selfie camera with a 20MP (f/2.2) shooter, which is capable of recording videos at 1080 30fps. Things get a bit different when it comes to the rear cameras. Both K20 & K20 Pro have a triple camera module that includes a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP telephoto sensor, and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. The main 48MP camera on the K20 Pro is a Sony IMX586 sensor, while the regular K20 equips a Sony IMX582 sensor.
In terms of battery, the K20 & K20 Pro packs a 4000 mAh battery to keep things ticking. Fast charging is supported on both the devices, which is set at 27W but the box provides a 15W adapter. You can buy the 27W charger separately for ₹999. Both the siblings run on the latest Android 9 Pie OS atop MIUI 10. Other common features the phones share are the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a dual-sim (Nano-SIM) port. None of the models have SD card support.
The Redmi K20 & K20 are offered in similar color options: Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, and Flame Red.
Differences:
Redmi K20 Pro comes with the flagship-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 that powers the Samsung S10 series, OnePlus 7 and the Asus 6z. The regular K20 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC. Both phones come in two variants. The K20 Pro has base storage of 128GB coupled with 6GB RAM & 256GB coupled with 8GB RAM. Its smaller sibling K20 comes with a base storage of 64GB coupled with 6GB RAM going all the way up to 128GB with the same 6GB RAM.
Pricing
The Redmi K20 starts at ₹21,999 for the 6GB+64GB variant and costs ₹23,999 for 6GB+128GB variant. The K20 Pro’s base model will cost users ₹27,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant, while the maxed out 8GB+256GB variant will set you back by ₹30,999.
Along with the phones, Xiaomi has also unveiled the much-teased Mi Neckband Bluetooth earphones. It has a stylish Micro-Arc collar design that will comfortably sit on the user’s neck. The Mi Neckband Bluetooth earphones come with the Bluetooth 5.0 up to 8 hours of battery life. It will cost the buyers ₹1,799.
The earphones will be available for purchase starting July 23 while the phones will go on sale in India starting from July 22 through Mi.com, Flipkart, and brick and mortar stores.
