Realme 5 and 5 Pro Launched in India; Everything You Need to Know

Chinese smartphone maker Realme has officially launched its Realme 5 series in India. The duo, which includes the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro are budget segment devices that are aggressively priced to sway more consumers. The phones boast a lot of features for a relatively lesser price. The successors to the amazing budget Realme 3, the latest entrants are the world’s first budget phones to sport quad cameras with different FOVs. Coming to the specifications, the Realme 5 is powered by an 11 nm Snapdragon 665 processor with 3GB or 4GB RAM options. It’s 6.5 inches LCD Mini-drop fullscreen display has 89% screen-to-body-ratio. It sports a 5000 mAh battery that Realme claims will last for 29 days. As for charging, an be charged with a 10W battery charge via a MicroUSB port. Coming to the cameras on the regular model, it comes with four cameras at the back in a 12MP+8MP+2MP+2MP setup. The 12MP primary sensor is a wide-angle lens while the 8MP sensor has an ultra-wide lens. One of the 2MP cameras is a macro sensor for clicking macro shots while the other 2MP sensor captures depth information for better portrait shots. There’s a 13MP front-facing camera that is embedded under the dew-drop shaped notch on the display. The phone has the soon to be extinct 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Realme 5 Pro is the more advanced of the two devices. The Realme 5 Pro has a rather smaller 6.3 inches  FHD+ display with a similar dew-drop notch as its smaller sibling. It is powered by Snapdragon 712 processor with up to 8GB RAM. It sports a 4035mAh mAh battery that supports VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 charging which gives 20W charging via a USB Type-C port. The 5 Pro also has a quad-camera setup but instead of a 12MP sensor, it sports a 48MP sensor.

Coming to the cameras on the regular model, it comes with four cameras at the back in a 12MP+8MP+2MP+2MP setup. Like its other phones, Realme opted for a holographic diamond-like design on these two phones as well. The regular model is available in Crystal Blue and Crystal Purple while the Pro version comes in Crystal Green and Sparkling Blue. Realme claims that for the first time that both phones are splash resistant against minor accidents but sadly, no IP rating is present.

The Realme 5 is priced at 9,999 for the base 3GB+32GB variant. other variants like the 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB are priced at 10,999 and 11,999, respectively. The smartphone goes on its first sale on 27 August at 12 Noon. The Realme 5 Pro also comes in three variants—4GB+64GB starting at 13,999, 6GB+64GB priced at 14,999 and an 8GB+128GB priced at 16,999.
