Microsoft will soon announce a new set of Surface Devices if an image is to be believed. The firm sent out invites for its next big event that will be held in New York on October 2. The said image has the Windows logo embedded onto a metal clears the air that the company is indeed planning to announce new Surface hardware. They also might unveil the much-rumored dual-screen Surface.
The timing, if you have observed, is spot-on! You see, Surface Book 2 was made official 2 years ago and since then, the technology has advanced a lot. Those notable improvements also extend to Intel and Nvidia‘s latest-generation chips. The Surface Pro is one and a half years old and might see its successor at the event. Especially from Intel‘s more power-efficient 10th-generation chipsets. Another hotly anticipated device would be the Pro 7, which is rumored to come in a variant running a Qualcomm’s 8cx processor. This chip might sound familiar – it made its debut in Samsung’s Galaxy Book S which featured LTE connectivity and has extended battery life.
Then there’s the quasi-mythical Surface Centaurus, which is said to be a technological marvel that will bridge the gap between smartphone and laptop with a folding; a dual-screen setup if you will. It might run Microsoft’s Windows Lite, which is considered to be the company’s next Chrome OS competitor.
Windows Lite is a revamped version of Windows 10 S, which didn’t take-off as Microsoft might have expected. It is expected to come with a completely different interface that will differentiate it as a mobile-first OS.
The official event buys us two months, and during this time we might see a lot of leaks and rumors flying around. There aren’t any rumors about the devices but we will let you know as soon as we spot any.
