In an unexpected move, Microsoft has decided to bring back Swiftkey for iOS-powered devices.

The company officially discontinued support for the keyboard in October of this year, and it was dropped from the App Store.

Those who had already installed SwiftKey on their iPhones could use the app unless they shifted to another device or upgraded to a newer operating system.

“We are ending support for Microsoft SwiftKey iOS. Thank you for being a user of our product. Please visit data.swiftkey.com for details on how to manage your data. The app will be delisted from the App Store on October 5th, 2022,” the company said in an earlier announcement.

In a statement to The Verge, Microsoft’s Caitlin Roulston said, “Based on customer feedback, SwiftKey iOS has been relisted on the Apple App Store.”

It is unknown why the firm abruptly decided to drop the app and bring it back. Moreover, even though the app has made a comeback, it was last updated on August 11, 2021.

But new changes are coming to the app soon as Pedram Rezaei, the company’s maps and local services division CTO, mentioned that the company will be “investing heavily in the keyboard.”

SwiftKey is considered to be the best keyboard app on the App Store, as Gboard is riddled with bugs.
