LG will look to have an excellent year with the new LG V30, the latest and possibly the best of the flagship ‘V’series. The last one to launch in the series was the V20, which was released last October.
With the V20 still in circulation and still going strong, the LG V30 will only aid in helping LG consolidate the high-end market of smartphones. The latest news indicates that the all-new LG V30 will be featured by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which is the most powerful and energy-efficient chipset currently available in the market.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon was released weeks earlier at the Consumer Electronics Fair in Las Vegas. This new chip uses the similar Kryo CPU architecture nominally found in the Snapdragon 82X. Qualcomm has stated that the new 835 SoC is 35% smaller in size while being 25% more energy efficient. This will lead to a better and more improved battery life. The Adreno 540 is the intended GPU for the new phone.
Normally, the 540 series GPU is featured on the previous processors. The new CPU is designed using the new Harvard architecture; it also supports improved data cache retention. On top of such features, the latest DirectX 11.1 will also be supported by the new Graphics Processing Unit.
The new LG V30 has a much-improved display. The new display has an image ratio of 18:9. The display ratio is also broken down to a 2:1 display to make things simpler; however, the 18:9 display ratio is also quoted to ensure that more eyeballs are garnered. Reports suggest that a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen will be featured with a capacitive touchscreen.
The new display is very sharp with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The new LG V30 has a pixel density of 513 PPI. Reports also state that the display supports multi-touch. Expect the display to support 16M colours to provide a life-like display.
The new LG V30 has very remarkable camera features. With a dual-camera setup on the rear, the smartphone will be a photographer’s delight. The rear cameras will be a 21MP wide-angle camera complementing an 8MP one, both of which are designed by Sony. The front camera of the LG V30 is 8MP and is capable of taking breathtaking selfies as well as rendering a special touch to the video-calling feature. The front camera is also manufactured by Sony.
One of the most exceptional characteristics of the LG V30 is the battery. The reports vary on the battery’s features. Some sources state that the battery will be 3500 mAh, while some state that a 3200 mAh battery will power the battery. Should this be the case, the incredibly large battery combined with the very energy-efficient chip, the new LG V30 will be a force to reckon with, as the new phone could well end up being an all-day phone.
The other features of the phone are also very good. The new LG V30 will also feature a headphone jack. Despite the precedent set by Apple and Samsung, LG has not flown with the tide. Now an MWC 2017 appearance for the V30 seems mostly unlikely considering the fact that the G6 is already being featured at the event.
Nevertheless, the V30 is slated to come this year, in spite of details regarding an exact release date seem meagre.
