Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor’s romantic thriller ‘Kurbaan’ was released on 20 November 2009, 13 years ago today.
On this occassion, Dharma Productions posted on social media, captioned as, “A tale of love & sacrifice! #13YearsOfKurbaan.”
‘Kurbaan’ was Saif and Kareena’s fourth on-screen collaboration after ‘LOC: Kargil,’ ‘Omkara,’ and ‘Tashan.’ Their on-screen love turned real and the couple married in October 2012 after dating for five years.
‘Kurbaan’ follows Avantika Ahuja – Kareena’s character, a psychology professor from the US, who falls in love with Ehsaan Khan/Khalid, a university professor from Mumbai – played by Saif Ali Khan. The crux of the film is terrorism where Avantika takes the center stage as the wife of a terrorist who married her to obtain residency in the United States in order to carry out terror attacks in the US.
The film was helmed by Rensil D’Silva and produced by Karan Johar. It also starred Om Puri, Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza and Kirron Kher in key roles.
Even though it got decent responses from the audience, the film was declared a flop by Box Office India.
On the work front, Kareena will be next seen in director Sujoy Ghosh’s next thriller film based on the book ‘The Devotion of Suspect X.’ She will also star in director Hansal Mehta’s next untitled film.
Saif will be next seen in ‘Adipurush,’ a pan-India alongside Prabhas and Kriti Sanon.
