Apple’s iPhone SE 4 was long rumored to be the shape of 2018’s iPhone XR, and the leaks support the argument.

FrontPageTech or Jon Prosser, in collaboration with Ian Zelbo, released some iPhone SE 4 renders. It feels like Apple once again is slapping some new hardware in a four-generation-old chassis.

The iPhone SE is in its third generation and features the same design as the iPhone 8, including a 4.7-inch display with a home button and large top and bottom bezels. Despite the $429 price point, the dated design is starting to weaken many potential buyers.

The only significant hardware upgrade we can expect will be the chipset. The iPhone XR has an Apple A12, the SE (2022) has an A15 Bionic, and even the non-Pro iPhone 14 has a 2021’s chipset.

Apple won’t opt for the A16 Bionic but would instead stick with the A15 Bionic as the latter could get too pricey for an SE model. Apple can use the 5-core GPU version of the A15 to provide a slight upgrade over the 3rd-generation SE.

When it comes to the charging port, Apple could transition to a USB-C port but seeing that the phone will launch before the deadline, it could still get Lightning one last time. A couple of days ago, Apple replaced the Lightning Port of the basic iPad variant with a Type C port.
