How to disable notch on One plus 6 and 6T

Posted by on

The notch displays have a small cut out at the top of the screen to house the front camera, speakers and various sensors. This allows the smartphone displays to extract more screen real estate. The display notch was introduced by Essential P1 and became mainstream with iPhone X. The notch makes optimal use of the vacated space which goes unused in most phones. But when it comes to phones like One Plus 6 and 6T the notch doesn’t do much for it. It doesn’t add any value as these phones already have a chin at the bottom. The notch works on iPhone X because it creates an all screen front-where the bottom bar is the same width as the bezels on the top.

While OnePlus says the notch was added to maximize screen real estate but the added 0.28-inch screen size doesn’t amount to anything. With the notch enabled you will get to see two extra lines of text when browsing and one added line in the settings pane. So its safe to say that the notch doesn’t add anything of value to the screen rather it looks a little off.  But thankfully OnePlus gives you the feature and power to make sure that the notch goes away. Also, OnePlus has also done a good job to make sure that the content doesn’t get hidden behind the notch when you disable it. In this post, we are going to show you how you can disable notch on OnePlus 6 and 6T.

How to disable notch on One plus 6 and 6T

Heres how you can disable notch on OnePlus 6 and 6T:

  1. Go to settings from the app drawer or home screen.
  2. Scroll up to the Device submenu.
  3. Tap on Display.
  4. Select Notch Display.
  5. Tap Hide the notch area.
  6. You will now see black bars on both sides of the notch.

Here’s how you can get rid of the annoying notch on your OnePlus 6 or 6T phone. In this way, this part of the display will remain black and blend in [to some extent] with the smartphones bezels. You would be only seeing it in sunlight and that’s about it. So whether you are in favor or against it, the notch is here to stay. But what’s in your favor is that you can hide it away.
