Golden Globes will be back on TV in 2023

American awards Golden Globes will be televised again in 2023, as it was held in private earlier this year, responding to a controversy over the organizing body’s membership diversity.

Power Of The Dog, West Side Story, and Succession was announced without fanfare even though they were among the big 2022 winners.

Now, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) – who organizes the event- has announced that the Golden Globes will premiere on NBC and its streaming service, Peacock.

The organization said, “Combined with the current HFPA membership, the total Golden Globe Awards voting body is now 52% female, 51.% racially and ethnically diverse, with 19.5% Latinx, 12% Asian, 10% Black, and 10% Middle Eastern.”

The HFPA newly added 103 new voters, commemorating the first time international-based voters have been made part of the pool. Moreover, sixty-two different countries around the world now represent the voting body.

Tuesday, 10 January 2023, i.e., when the awards will return to the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

It’s unclear who will host the awards as nothing has been made official yet.

The controversy was ensued by a Los Angeles Times expose back in 2021 where it was found that the HFPA had no black members voting for the awards along with allegations of inappropriate freebies that were provided to influence votes. Reacting to this news, Hollywood actor Tom Cruise protested by handing back the three awards he had won over the years.
