Google Maps has always been our go-to map which finds your destination giving you many routes and saving your precious time. Well, it is all set to get better. Google announced three new features pertaining to navigation and public transport, which will make our commute more easier.
The three new features focus on bus travel, train, and auto-rickshaws. You will now get an approximate travel time when on a public bus. Local train commuters will be happy to know that our beloved Maps will show real-time train status and information about delays. There’s also a mixed-mode navigation feature that will suggest you the best route to travel and will recommend people whether they should opt for an auto-rickshaw.
Google’s official blog elucidates on these three new features. Google Maps will give you a travel estimation by using Google’s live traffic data and bus schedules. The post also mentions that India is the first-ever country to get this update. People living in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Chennai, Mysore, Coimbatore, and Surat will get this feature first.
For those who travel between cities by long-distance trains, Google will introduce the real-time status and a report if the train is delayed. Google mentions that the feature was developed with Where is My Train app, acquired by the firm last year.
Lastly, people commuting using two or more transports will rejoice as this new feature gives you direction support and amalgamates auto-rickshaw and public transport. If you don’t feel confident opting for a rickshaw, check how much time the journey will take. It will also get a travel estimate for a rickshaw meter. People living in Delhi and Bangalore will get their hands-on this feature before anyone else. It will soon extend to other cities as well.
