Social media giant Facebook is unveiling a total of three features in order to increase fundraising across its social platforms. These “products” include a new Instagram donation button, a fundraising sticker on Facebook, and the broader rollout of fundraising on Facebook gaming live streams.
The new Instagram button is touted to be the most important new tool as it will enable nonprofit businesses to add a donation button to their Instagram profile. The said button will appear next to where the company lists its phone number. Keep in mind that this new button will be a permanent addition, unlike the donate button available in Instagram Stories that vanish after 24 hours.
Facebook will also allow Level Up gamers in countries where fundraising tools are available to use charity gaming tools. Gamers can select a cause, request viewers to donate money as they watch the game live and set a goal amount. Moreover, notifications about the donations will pop-up in the chat when people donate, allowing the streamer to shout out donators.
This expansion for people to donate through its various platforms surely won’t transform Facebook’s donation system, putting forth many options that will eventually make it easier for nonprofits to collect donations. Facebook will also assist these nonprofits organizations separately to help them find volunteers, provide them with the ability to list opportunities on their page for people to sign up remotely.
