While users were excited to catch up on Home Alone during the holiday, Disney Plus quietly removed the series along with a few prominent titles. Users noticed that films like Lost in New York, The Sandlot, Dr. Dolittle, Flicka, The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Strange Magic, The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration, White Wilderness, Mickey Three Musketeers, Garfield 2, and Shaggy Dog are no longer available to stream on Disney+.
Disney did not comment or acknowledge the fact that like last year, they are removing movies this year too. Don’t keep your hopes high regarding their return to the newly launched platform.
Back in March, Disney CEO Bob Iger said, “Disney Plus would house the entire Disney motion picture library, the movies that you speak of that traditionally have been kept in the ‘vault’ and brought out basically every few years.” This statement is being questioned by many users.
According to Bloomberg, MCU’a Black Panther will also be exed from Disney+ by 2026, which might make a shift to Netflix. But there’s a silver lining, of sorts. Cool Runnings and Holes, along with other titles have been added to Disney Plus’ catalog and the list is increasing. But don’t expect much from them as unlike Netflix and HBO, who announce the removal of titles in advance, Disney+ did not any such thing.
