Asus has done it again. Its gaming phone, the ROG Phone II will ship with the fastest chipset ever, the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus. To jog your memory, the original ROG Phone came with a beefed-up version of the Snapdragon 845 that ran at slightly higher clocks. And it was specifically made for the phone. In contrast, the Snapdragon 855 Plus will be available all to all OEMs, making ASUS’s upcoming gaming phone to be the first-ever to adopt it.
Recent real-world leaked images of the forthcoming smartphone also confirm the presence of a 120Hz display on the Asus ROG Phone II. Its predecessor had a slightly lower 90Hz display. The images were leaked by Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo, which gives us a sneak-peek into what the phone might look like.
Elsewhere manufacturers are jumping on the no-bezel bandwagon, Taiwanese electronics giant Asus is still seen rocking these huge bezels on the ROG Phone II. It will obviously be equipped with dual front-firing speakers for that immersive gameplay. A selfie camera is slightly visible but this is a gaming phone so one shouldn’t expect much on the imaging front.
We will give you all the concrete details once the phone is launched on July 23. Stay tuned for the upcoming updates.
