Posted by on

It’s been quite a while since Apple has released its much-awaited smartphones this year. Apple has released 3 different models of iPhone this year i.e. iPhone 8, iPhone 8+ and the all-new iPhone X.

We are going to compare the two models i.e. iPhone 8 and iPhone X in this review. This latest cell phone review will make it easier for you to pick the best iPhone this year.

We all know that iPhone X is by far the most advanced and interesting model Apple has released this year, whereas in iPhone 8 Apple has changed a little hardware and software.

1. Displays

Starting with the most important thing to look for in a smartphone, the Display. The display of iPhone X and iPhone 8 are very different in both hardware and the software. The technical specifications of displays of both the phones are mentioned below.

iPhone X

5.8 inch 18.5:9 True Tone OLED, 2463 x 1125 pixels (458 ppi) and 82.9% screen-to-body ratio.

iPhone 8

4.7 inch 16:9 True Tone LCD, 1334 x 750 pixels (326 ppi), 65% screen-to-body ratio.

This screen comparison is very obvious and easy to understand, the screen of the iPhone X is really bright having the OLED display. iPhone X surely is miles ahead of the iPhone 8 in the display department. The iPhone 8 has a new True Tone technology that makes it a little brighter than the iPhone 7, rest of the dimensions and hardware are the same.

2. Design

Here comes the part where in my opinion I’d prefer iPhone 8 over iPhone X. the iPhone X has a great design without any doubt but it’s bulky and big as compared to the compact and lightweight design of the iPhone 8.

3. Camera

Here comes another major factor that makes iPhone X superior over the iPhone 8. The iPhone X has a 12-megapixel dual-back camera with a telephoto lens that enables 2x optical zoom with image stabilization. The portrait mode allows you to take some really great pictures from both back and front cameras. iPhone 8 has a single 12-megapixel camera with almost the same tech specs but it’s the dual lenses that make iPhone X camera one of the best in the market.

Performance: while the iPhone X and iPhone 8 might seem very different from the outside but they have almost the same performing hardware inside. Both phones are carrying the Apple’s A11 super intelligent “Bionic” chipset with six cores CPU and GPU, an M11 motion coprocessor, the only difference these both phones have is the RAM. iPhone X has a 3Gb ram whereas the iPhone 8 is packed with 2GB RAM.

4. Battery

The iPhone 8 disappoints in the battery section. With all the new processing chip and True Tone display and a new camera, iPhone 8’s battery has not been improved. Whereas Apple claims the iPhone X battery is better and it will last 2 hours long that the iPhone 7. Both the phone has wireless charging enabled.

iPhone X is something new and it will definitely be fun and a new experience for a Apple lover but on the other hand, iPhone 8 is 40% less in price than the iPhone X. so it’s up to you to decide what should you buy. But if you can stretch your budget I would definitely recommend you the iPhone X.

Hahaha Tracy I am still in a dilemma which one to buy 😛

I have been researching this and you have been very helpful, thank you.

Wao.. Nice Phone

This post was super helpful. Thanks

My husband just got me an iPhone 8 PLUS and it’s WORLDS different from my 6s… And the 8 PLUS is basically the same thing as the X. We did a comparison… So perhaps you’re just talking about the 8 vs. the 8 PLUS because that PLUS makes a huge difference. And the battery life and camera are ON POINT!

When I am able to afford the new iPhone, I would get the 8 instead of the X. Thank you for sharing.

I personally think Google and apple are overrated products. I don’t consider buying both lol. Anyway, amazing review.

Adulting Around

Great post! even though I’m not an IPhone user, I have been considering getting one for the camera.

I’ve been wondering about the differences between the new models! Thanks for posting!

Because it was time to upgrade and I found out that I simply needed more memory, I opted for an IPhone 7 with expanded memory. It was the cheapest upgrade I have done and the battery is better than the iPhone 6 I had. My son got my hand me down, so we’re all happy. Thanks for helping look toward my next phone.

Skipping on both :p I’m not a big fan of high end smartphones. I would rather buy a OnePlus 5T and GoPro 6 than a $1000 smartphone.
