iPhone-maker Apple has launched the third generation of its AirPods wireless earphones series that boasts major upgrades. The new features are drool-worthy that include active noise cancellation, sweat and water resistance, and in-ear design. The design changes will be lauded as the users of current AirPods are concerned about the way they fit in their ears.
The AirPods Pro was launched for a steep price of $249 in the US (approximately ₹24,900). They ship with a standard wireless charging case.. The 3rd-gen AirPods give four-and-a-half hours of listening time on a single charge, that too with active noise cancellation enabled; the case provides with an additional 24 hours of listening time.
Speaking about the new product, Apple said, “AirPods Pro features 10 audio cores and powers everything from sound to Siri. It uses two microphones combined with advanced software to continuously adapt to each individual ear and headphone fit for active noise cancellation.”
The active noise cancellation feature is what makes it a huge upgrade. One out of the two microphones has an outward appearance that minimizes the background noise from the external environment. The second microphone faces the ear which helps in reducing any remaining noise that’s picked up by the microphone. The AirPods Pro is also equipped with Adaptive EQ. According to Apple, “It tunes the low and mid-frequencies of the music to the shape of an individual’s ear — resulting in a rich, immersive listening experience.”
Another noteworthy feature is called ‘Ear Tip Fit Test.’ This works when the users places the AirPods Pro in each ear, its algorithms and the microphones in each AirPod can detect whether the ear tip is the right size and fits well. It can also suggest if you just need to adjust the tips for a better seal.
AirPods Pro will be available from October 30 in the US and will be coming to India soon. They will ship with three sizes of silicone ear tips, which is pretty standard with most in-ear headphones.
